New forms of service delivery

One area of government policy in the Big Society and public service reform is the encouragement of innovation and new forms of delivery for key services, including delivery by the private and voluntary sectors, and by the creation of new social enterprises. With the policy in its infancy, ESF investments under the current programme include some valuable examples of change in the delivery methods of services, which offer lessons for the future.
The Pisces project in the West Midlands is using the Community Interest Company (CIC) model in an experimental way, drawing together local voluntary and community organisations into a central structure to deliver training and opportunities for older people in the area.
