The England and Gibraltar ESF 2007-2013 mid-programme conference, will be held on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at Villa Park, Birmingham.

The conference will:

  • celebrate the successes of the first half of the programme; and
  • discuss effective practice and how this can inform the delivery of ESF projects and improve outcomes in the second half of the programme.

The final programme includes:

  • key note speeches from senior DWP and European Commission officials;
  • a panel discussion on ESF priorities for 2011-2013;
  • presentation of ESF awards for equal opportunities and sustainable development;
  • an exhibition of ESF partners and projects; and
  • a series of workshops focusing on key ESF themes:
    • working with offenders and ex-offenders - speakers including Pertemps People Development Group
    • mainstreaming equal opportunities in-work training - including GHK, who undertook the recent national ESF In-Work Training evaluation
    • older workers, featuring The Age and Employment Network (TAEN) digital divide, with speakers from the DAIN project
      young people - NEETS
    • social enterprise
    • green jobs and the low carbon economy, with inputs from Fifteen Cornwall
    • community grants
    • long-term unemployed and disadvantaged groups, with presentations from Inital Steps and Working Better

Participation in the conference is by invitation only. All delegate places have now been allocated, but ESF-Works will be carrying lots of information before and after the conference, showcasing projects taking part, keynote speaker presentations and interviews with delegates.
