CSV’s Ipswich-based SAM (Social Activation Model) project will be sharing its learning at a European Parliament seminar in November, looking at how volunteering can help in the social inclusion of people with mental health problems.

Supported under the ESF ITM programme, SAM uses the local CSV’s strengths in arts and creative media to recruit users recovering from mental health issues and start a journey back towards employment. With a key element of the project being the training of volunteer mentors, some drawn from the main user group, SAM is in a great position to pass on learning it has gained from its work over the last year. Look out for a full report on SAM on ESF-Works soon.

Update 15 November

CSV's Ipswich based SAM project is speaking at the European Parliament's seminar on Volunteering, as a tool for the inclusion of people with mental health problems, taking place in Brussels on Friday 17 November. Places are still available for anyone interested in this important topic and hearing about how SAM is using new media and creative industries as a route to employability, funded under the Innovation Transnationality and Mainstreaming programme.
