National Apprenticeship Week 2012
The fifth annual National Apprenticeship Week will take place between 6 and 10 February. The event, set to be the biggest and best yet, will see over 500 events and activities take place across England.
National Apprenticeship Week celebrates the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals and businesses. A wide range of organisations support National Apprenticeship Week by organising activities which include employers, apprentices, learning providers, colleges, business support and sector organisations, and schools.
John Hayes, Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning said: ‘Thanks to record investment, combined with tough measures to drive up standards, the Government has created the biggest and best apprenticeships programme in our country's history.
‘National Apprenticeship Week is the time to celebrate the countless achievements of learners and employers, and to call on more firms to say "you're hired" to a new apprentice.’
This year there are many events and activities planned, ranging from business events designed to encourage employers to recruit apprentices, to interactive careers events aimed at potential apprentices.
Simon Waugh, Chief Executive of NAS, said: ‘Apprenticeships provide businesses with a significant return on investment by increasing productivity and introducing fresh new talent and innovation. We are delighted that so many organisations are supporting National Apprenticeship Week by organising events to showcase these benefits. There are some fantastic activities on offer, which I am certain will inspire more companies and individuals to reap the benefits of Apprenticeships for themselves.’
