Equal Opportunities and Sustainable Development: promoting cross-cutting themes

The cross-cutting themes of Equal Opportunities and Sustainable Development are at the heart of the European Social Fund. All projects in receipt of ESF, should have policies and strategies in place to take forward these themes – ensuring that no-one is discriminated against and the environment and sustainability are considered operationally.

In practice however, cross-cutting themes are often under developed and as a result, many projects are marked down when externally assessed. Fortunately for those projects that need some guidance, ESF-Works interviewed Patrick Eastwood from the West Midlands Leader Board (WMLB) about implementing the cross-cutting themes.

Patrick is the Cross-Cutting Themes Monitoring Officer for WMLB, and works with projects throughout the West Midlands to ensure that their policies and strategies have the cross-cutting themes at the heart of their work. Watch the interview with Patrick and learn how you can improve the delivery of your project.
