What is ESF?
The European Social Fund (ESF) was set up to improve employment opportunities in the European Union and so help raise living standards. It aims to help people fulfill their potential by giving them better skills and better job prospects.
ESF is investing £2.3 billion in employment and skills projects across England between 2007 and 2013. The funding is focused on two key priorities: extending employment opportunities to unemployed and disadvantaged people; and developing a skilled and adaptable workforce.
See: www.esf.gov.uk for more information.
What can you find on ESF-Works?
Visitors to the site can browse a database of projects being delivered in the English regions. Up-to-date information will be provided via interviews with ministers, policy-makers, managers and participants. Extra resources – research reports, learning materials, video footage of participants – can be found in the library, which illustrates the achievements of the 2000–2006 Equal programme in Great Britain.
What is Equal-Works?
Equal-Works.com is a searchable web site holding a huge bank of inspirational materials from the 2000–2006 ESF Equal Programme in Great Britain. This site preserves the valuable work that was delivered through the Equal programme, helping policy makers and practitioners understand what worked and what can be re-used.
